ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Indiana (WNDU) – Of the eight Indiana State Park inns, seven are situated in the central and southern regions of the state.
The cabin being constructed at Potato Creek State Park will offer an additional choice for residents in northern Indiana and those in southwest Michigan.
The $100 million projectwill be located on the southern section of Worster Lake in Liberty Township.
This new site will serve as the second government-operated hotel in the northern area, offering additional choices for people in Michiana.
“Behind me would be the pods, in other words, leading to the rooms, the aquatic center, and I think there’s also a shop, and in front of me will be the pod, the areas for the conference facilities, the dining room, and similar spaces,” said Jim Webb, manager of Potato Creek State Park.
Webb mentions that approximately three-quarters of a million individuals come to the park each year, and he is eager to accommodate additional visitors.
“Everyone is welcome. Everyone is invited to God’s country at Potato Creek State Park,” Webb said.
WNDU 16 News Now reports that 30% of the construction has been completed so far. The elevator shaft for guests staying overnight is in place, and the water pipes that will supply water to the indoor aquatics center are installed in a wall.
The initiative will also introduce enhancements to mobile and data services.
“We currently have fiber installed throughout the park, and there will be fiber running through the inn as well. With this, I think it will help reduce some of the dead zones, so to speak, and also improve the internet speed,” Webb stated.
Webb mentions that the project is slightly behind schedule, but they still anticipate completing it by the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.
Once the lodge is finished, it will include 120 hotel rooms, a full-service restaurant that can accommodate 150 guests, and an aquatic facility.
