It looks like new Chappell RoanMusic is finally on its way.
Over the past few days, flyers featuring theGrammy-winning artistHave been spotted all over New York City. One image features Roan with a fresh haircut, accompanied by a note that says, “Going through a breakup? Get bangs!” Among her hair are rats, a cigarette, and a bread tag. Roan’s creative director Ramisha Sattarfurther intensified the situation after she reposted a video from a fan account to her Instagram Story, showing a truck with a license plate that read “THE SBWY” heading toward Saskatchewan, Canada.
Devoted fans are aware that Roan has been performing her song “The Subway” at tour stops and festival appearances for the last two years. Nevertheless, she has not yet issued a studio recording of this popular track. In an April interview on theLas Culturistaspodcast, Roan shared that she was conflicted about releasing a studio version of “The Subway.”
I’ve been struggling with ‘The Subway’ because… some songs just come alive during a live performance – certain elements work better in front of an audience – and they don’t translate well in the studio,” Roan explained. “With ‘The Subway,’ it’s going to have a different vibe, and different doesn’t necessarily mean worse… You just need to step back and accept that this is different, and that’s perfectly fine.
Lyrically, the song recounts Roan’s efforts to move on from an ex, someone she keeps encountering frequently. “I’m still counting down every day / ‘Til you’re just another girl on the train,” she sings.
Is Roan finally going to release “The Subway?” It seems we might not have to wait much longer to find out. If we do get “The Subway,” this will be Roan’s second single of the year. Earlier in March, she released “The Giver,A rustic, lesbian-themed song for the ages.
