Incident Involving a US Postal Service Worker and NYPD Officer
A recent incident involving a US Postal Service worker has raised concerns about public safety and the potential for escalation following an encounter with law enforcement. According to law enforcement sources, the individual in question, Dontae Lyles, 21, was allegedly involved in a series of threatening actions directed at an NYPD officer shortly after being issued a summons for carrying pepper spray on the subway.
The events began when Lyles was encountered by officers on an uptown 6 train around 4:45 a.m. He was allegedly found carrying a large can of pepper spray, which led to his being taken off the train at the Parkchester Avenue station in the Bronx. He was then issued a summons for possessing the item in transit.

Less than an hour after the initial encounter, the officer received multiple phone calls from a blocked number. After the fifth missed call, the officer answered and heard a voice that sounded like Lyles. The suspect reportedly recited the officer’s full name and apparent address, followed by a chilling statement: “I told you I’m not f–king around. I’m going to get you.”
Lyles allegedly continued to call the officer’s personal phone 19 more times. During this time, he also sent numerous texts containing threatening messages, including one with a picture of a firearm. The message reportedly read, “This is what a real gun f–king looks like d–khead,” and another text that said, “I will see you guys real soon quick and easy.”
In addition to the phone calls and texts, Lyles allegedly sent a video showing a magazine being removed from a weapon. This alarming behavior prompted further investigation into his actions.

A search warrant executed at Lyles’ residence uncovered a gun that matched the one in the photo he had sent, as well as materials used for constructing a ghost gun. These findings have added to the severity of the charges against him.
Lyles is now facing multiple charges, including making terrorist threats and aggravated harassment related to the alleged calls and messages. He is also being charged with several counts of criminal possession of a weapon due to the gun and ghost gun materials found in his home.
