Changes in the Cast for Tracker Season 3
The hit series Tracker is set to return for its third season, but fans will notice some significant changes in the cast. Two of the show’s main stars have left, marking a major shift in the storyline and character dynamics.
According to reports, Eric Graise and Abby McEnany have exited the show. Graise portrayed Bobby Exley, while McEnany played Velma Bruin. However, both characters had limited screen time with the show’s lead actor, Justin Hartley, who plays Colter Shaw. With their departures, Tracker now has only two series regulars for Season 3: Hartley as Colter Shaw and Fiona Rene as Reenie Green.
Previously, Robin Weigert was part of the main cast, playing Teddi, the wife of Velma Bruin. She was written out after the first season. Another notable figure on the show is Jensen Ackles, known for his role in Supernatural and Countdown, who plays Russell Shaw, the brother of Colter Shaw. While it’s unclear how much Ackles will appear in Season 3, he recently confirmed that he is in talks to return.
Will Jensen Ackles Return in Season 3?
Ackles shared his thoughts during an interview with Collider. “We are discussing that as we speak,” he said. “That is being talked about, so yeah, I would hope so. Justin [Hartley] is a dear friend of mine and getting to play with him is always a fun thing. So, yeah, there are talks of bringing me back. To what capacity, I’m not sure yet.”
Origins and Development of Tracker
Based on Jeffery Deaver’s novel The Never Game, Tracker was developed by Ben H. Winters for CBS. The series premiered in February 2024, with Season 2 following in October of the previous year and concluding in May 2025. The show was renewed for a third season in February, thanks to its continued success during Season 2.
Season 2 ended with a dramatic finale that revealed Colter’s mother, played by Wendy Crewson, had arranged for her husband’s murder over two decades ago. The man responsible for the killing also sought Colter’s help, but the exact nature of this request remains a mystery. Hartley has promised that Season 3 will provide answers to these questions.
What to Expect in Season 3
Hartley explained in an interview with Variety that the new season will delve into the reasons behind his character’s mother’s actions. “I know we’ll get to the nitty-gritty of why my mother hired this guy,” he said. “Was she protecting her kids? Was an affair happening? Was the government involved? Was it strictly just my mother? Why did she hide that from us for so long? Why did she lead me to believe that it was my brother who was involved when he wasn’t? It seems like this divide-and-conquer thing that she’s doing. It was just an odd thing to do with your children. There’s some deep psychosis there. We’ll unpack that.”
