He explained that both William and Charles, the current Prince of Wales, underwent military training. “You’re the commanding chief of the Armed Forces, so you’ve got to know the profession,” Harrold said, referencing his experience with the royal family.
Harrold also noted that while there may not be as much pressure on George compared to his father and grandfather, it is still expected that he will receive some form of military education. “It is seen as vital for future kings to have had some sort of military training, so you can guarantee that George, whether he likes it or not, will have to go through that military training.”

Harrold mentioned that the expectations are unclear at this time. “I don’t think it would [be frowned upon] these days [if they didn’t go],” he said. Harrold also pointed out that Prince George’s future may differ from that of his younger siblings, Charlotte and Louis. While they may still pursue higher education, George’s path could be more focused on military and royal duties. “George, Charlotte, and Louis might not all go to university. They may go straight to somewhere like the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst,” he added.
