Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Takes a Ride in Tesla
In a notable event, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, was seen taking a ride in a Tesla car outside Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai. This incident coincided with the official launch of the Tesla Model Y electric midsize SUV in the Indian market on Tuesday. The move highlights the growing interest in electric vehicles (EVs) and the state’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
Shinde expressed his enthusiasm about Tesla opening its showroom in Mumbai, emphasizing that Maharashtra has the highest foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country. He pointed out that the state has strong infrastructure and is becoming increasingly industry-friendly, which attracts investors.
A Welcome Arrival for Tesla
Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Tesla Experience Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai, welcoming Tesla’s arrival in India. The Chief Minister highlighted that the establishment of the experience center is a clear statement that Tesla has arrived in the right city and state.
He further stated that it is a matter of great joy that Tesla launched its first experience in India in Mumbai. Tesla is setting up a logistics and servicing system in the state, along with four big charging stations. The Chief Minister expressed happiness that Tesla chose Maharashtra, given the state’s leadership in electric mobility.
Features of the Tesla Model Y
The Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant of the Model Y offers a stated range of 500 kilometers on a single charge. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. For rapid charging, the supercharge feature allows the RWD model to gain up to 238 kilometers of range in approximately 15 minutes.
Inside the vehicle, the first row of seats in both Model Y features power recline, heating, and ventilation. The second row enhances comfort with power two-way folding and heating functions. A nine-speaker sound system is integrated for audio clarity in Tesla’s Model Y. Additionally, the vehicle includes a prominent 15.4-inch touchscreen in the front row, complemented by an 8-inch touchscreen for second-row occupants.
