A Journey of Style and Self-Expression
Victoria Totaro, the owner of the Collective Boutique in Conshohocken, has always had a deep connection to fashion. Her passion for style was inspired by her mother, who had a keen eye for dressing beautifully. This influence continues to shape Totaro’s approach to fashion and retail, creating a meaningful connection between her personal history and her business.
Totaro often reflects on how her mother’s love for elegant clothing has impacted her own journey. “She always loved to dress to the nines, and I love that about her,” she says. “It’s really a full-circle moment now because she can come into my store and get styled. It’s something I’m incredibly proud of.”
Starting from Scratch
Despite having no prior experience in the retail industry, Totaro took a bold step in April 2024 when she opened her boutique. She recalls the early days with a mix of humor and determination. “I went to COTERIE New York and literally had no idea what I was doing,” she admits. “It was the definition of fake it until you make it.” However, this lack of experience didn’t deter her; instead, it pushed her to learn and grow quickly.
For Totaro, fashion is more than just clothing—it’s a powerful form of self-expression. “It’s something you can spend your life learning about and still discover something new every day,” she explains. “It’s always changing and evolving, so you never get bored of it.” This philosophy drives her to stay current with trends while also encouraging her customers to find their unique style.
The Art of Makeup
Beyond fashion, Totaro also shares her insights on makeup. She believes that the key to a great look starts with healthy skin. “You have to take care of it,” she emphasizes. “Then get your makeup routine down to four products you can fit in a little cosmetic pouch and carry around with you.” This simple yet effective approach allows for easy application and ensures that one can maintain a polished look throughout the day.
Totaro’s dedication to both fashion and beauty has made her a valuable presence in the Conshohocken community. Her boutique not only offers a curated selection of clothing but also serves as a space where people can explore their personal style and feel confident in their choices.
A Growing Legacy
As the Collective Boutique continues to grow, Totaro remains committed to her vision of making fashion accessible and enjoyable for everyone. She understands that style is deeply personal and believes that each individual has the power to express themselves through their clothing and appearance.
Her story is a testament to the importance of following one’s passions, even when the path is uncertain. By combining her love for fashion with a strong work ethic, Totaro has created a space that resonates with both her personal history and the needs of her customers.
Through her efforts, the Collective Boutique has become more than just a retail store—it’s a celebration of self-expression, confidence, and the enduring influence of family. As Totaro continues to build her brand, she remains focused on inspiring others to embrace their unique style and find joy in the art of fashion.
