The Global EdTech Prize, supported by prominent organizations such as Owl Ventures, Digital Promise, and Rethink Education, is judged by educators themselves. It showcases tools that are making a real difference in improving learning outcomes across the globe. Suraasa was specifically acknowledged for its pioneering Global Teacher Mobility model, which empowers Indian educators to build international careers. This initiative directly addresses the global teacher shortage, with UNESCO reporting a need for 69 million teachers by 2030.

Unlike many edtech platforms that focus on students or AI-driven solutions, Suraasa prioritizes the needs of teachers. The platform provides surplus educators from countries like India, South Africa, and the Philippines with internationally recognized qualifications, country-specific pedagogy training, and career guidance. These opportunities enable placements in various countries, including the UAE, UK, US, and beyond. Some teachers who have found positions through Suraasa now earn annual salaries of up to Rs. 87 lakh ($105,000).

Rishabh Khanna, Founder & CEO of Suraasa, expressed his pride in the recognition, stating, “We are immensely proud to be recognized by T4 Education. We believe the solution to global education challenges, including the teacher shortage, lies in empowering our educators. Our mission is to enable tangible career growth for them, providing internationally recognized qualifications and vital connections to schools worldwide.”

Vikas Pota, Founder of T4 Education and the Global EdTech Prize, commented on the significance of Suraasa’s model: “Congratulations to Suraasa’s Global Teacher Mobility model on being shortlisted for the inaugural Global EdTech Prize. All of our shortlisted tools have one thing in common. They have harnessed technology in the service of education, and they are making a difference. From enhancing literacy development to building lifelong skills, supporting social mobility, and closing learning gaps, the Global EdTech Prize measures not only innovation but also impact. By giving a global platform to these tools, we help scale that impact at a time when it has never been more needed.”

As the competition progresses, the top 10 finalists for the Global EdTech Prize will be announced on July 31, 2025. These finalists will present their innovations at the World Schools Summit in Abu Dhabi on November 16, 2025. A panel of global education and policy leaders will then select the winners, with the final vote cast by educators via secret ballot. This unique process ensures that the award is judged solely by teachers, emphasizing the importance of their voices in shaping the future of education.

At a time when Indian policy emphasizes upskilling, global mobility, and teaching quality aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP), Suraasa serves as a timely example of how Indian educators can create global impact. It also demonstrates how Indian edtech solutions can address the world’s pressing educational needs.
