During his reign, he worked tirelessly to promote the values and traditions of the Olomu Kingdom, ensuring that the cultural heritage of the community was preserved and celebrated.

Honoring the Late King

The formal announcement of the monarch’s departure was marked by the traditional firing of 21 cannon shots, a gesture symbolizing the gravity and respect associated with the death of a royal figure. Traditional Ema dancers also performed, honoring the king with a cultural display that is reserved for only the most significant and sacred occasions. These rituals reflect the deep-rooted traditions of the Olomu Kingdom and serve as a way to pay tribute to the late monarch.

Mourning Period and Customs

All markets within the kingdom are to remain closed throughout the mourning period. While shops may be allowed to operate, business transactions will be limited to essential or partial activities. In line with tradition, no burial or marriage ceremonies are to be conducted during this time as the community focuses on honoring the memory and legacy of the Ohworode.

Traditional chiefs of the Olomu Kingdom have also been instructed to wear a mourning band on their left wrists. In addition, they are to refrain from wearing the traditional red cap, which is a significant symbol of Olomu chieftaincy, for the entire duration of the mourning period.
