Honorary Degrees Recognize Distinguished Nigerians at FUG’s First Convocation
The Federal University Gashua (FUG) is set to honor six prominent Nigerians with honorary doctoral degrees during its inaugural convocation ceremony. This prestigious event will take place on Saturday and marks a significant milestone in the university’s history.
Professor Maimuna Waziri, the Vice-Chancellor of FUG, revealed the names of the recipients during a press briefing at the institution. She emphasized that the honorary degrees are a tribute to the individuals’ outstanding contributions to the development of the nation.
Among those being honored is Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who will be awarded a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt). The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, and the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam, will both receive Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) degrees. These awards reflect their dedication to public service and leadership.
Another notable recipient is former Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, who will be conferred with a Doctor of Science (D.Sc). His academic and political achievements have made him a respected figure in Nigerian society. Additionally, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad will be presented with a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt), recognizing his contributions to the legal field. Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji will also receive a Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) degree for his efforts in community development.

Since its establishment, FUG has graduated six sets of students, totaling 3,449 graduates across four faculties: Agriculture, Arts, Management and Social Sciences, and Science.
