93 Trips to Benidorm – Why I’ll Never Choose Another Destination

A Unique Holiday Experience in Benidorm

For many, a holiday is an opportunity to relax and enjoy new experiences. But for 81-year-old Renee Roebuck, it’s also a chance to immerse herself in the vibrant culture of Benidorm, a Spanish resort known for its lively atmosphere and rich entertainment scene. With over 100 visits to the destination, Renee has made Benidorm her go-to place for fun, relaxation, and unforgettable memories.

Renee’s love for Benidorm started three decades ago and has only grown stronger over time. While many visitors are drawn to the area for its sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and historic Old Town, Renee has her own unique reason for returning year after year. The abundance of tribute bands that perform across the town has become a major attraction for her.

Every night, she can be found dressed in band merch, eagerly waiting to see a different cover act or singer. Sometimes, she even joins the performers on stage for a dance. This passion for live music has made her a regular at local venues, where she often interacts with the artists and becomes part of the show.

New research highlights that Renee isn’t alone in her enthusiasm for tribute acts. According to a survey, 90% of Brits enjoy watching these performances while on holiday, with 68% considering them one of their favorite forms of entertainment. In comparison, alternatives like karaoke (43%) and nightclubs (37%) fall short in popularity.

Renee travels to Benidorm with her husband, Alan, and occasionally her children and grandchildren. The whole family often spends two weeks there during Christmas, making it a cherished tradition. For Renee, Benidorm is more than just a vacation spot—it’s her happy place.

“I’ve never looked back since my first trip,” she said. “I go with my family four to five times a year, and I can’t get enough of the lifestyle there.”

Despite her frequent visits, Renee still finds new things to enjoy. She appreciates the variety of tribute bands available, from classic rock to pop hits. Her favorites include Bob Marley and Take That, whose performances bring back fond memories and keep her entertained.

Renee’s journey to Benidorm hasn’t always been smooth. After a serious cancer diagnosis at age 60, she underwent surgery that removed two-thirds of her stomach. Since then, she has made it a priority to live life to the fullest, which includes enjoying the sun, good food, and the lively music scene in Benidorm.

Her granddaughter, Lauren Chant, works as a travel advisor at TUI’s Sheffield Superstore and often books her nan’s trips. These holidays frequently turn into family vacations, allowing everyone to experience the charm of Benidorm together.

“I like to stay in a nice area just outside the hustle and bustle,” Renee explained. “I always book with TUI because they arrange tribute acts to perform at the hotel. When I’ve stayed in apartments, I’ve had to walk to hotels or bars to catch the shows.”

Over the years, the performers have come to recognize Renee. They often invite her on stage and chat with her after the shows. She finds this personal connection more engaging than seeing big-name artists, as tribute acts offer a more intimate and interactive experience.

According to the survey, almost a quarter of Brits (24%) consider the entertainment options in a destination or hotel when planning a trip. Tribute acts, in particular, are highly sought after, with 85% of respondents attending at least a couple of performances during a week-long vacation.

Despite her many visits, Renee has no plans to stop coming to Benidorm. “Benidorm really does have it all,” she said. “You can find busy or quiet places, a lovely beach, and you’ll never get bored there—especially if you love the tributes.”

For Renee, each visit is an opportunity to dance, laugh, and create lasting memories. She plans to continue visiting as often as possible, embracing every moment in this vibrant Spanish resort.
