Summer Fayre Fun Awaits Worthing Community at Care for Veterans

Community Event Celebrates Care for Veterans

The annual family-friendly summer fayre is set to take place at the Care for Veterans home located on Boundary Road. The event will officially begin at midday, with a special opening by Worthing West MP Dr Beccy Cooper. As the day comes to an end, the Town Crier Bob Smytherman will mark the conclusion of the festivities at 4pm. Worthing Mayor Cllr Cathy Glynn-Davies is also expected to be in attendance, highlighting the significance of the occasion.

Care for Veterans has been providing essential support to veterans and their families for many years. The organisation offers long-term nursing care, rehabilitation services, respite care, and end-of-life care for individuals living with disabilities, including those affected by acquired brain injuries and degenerative neurological conditions. Recently, Care for Veterans has become part of the Royal Star & Garter group, following a strategic merger that aims to enhance the quality of care provided to residents.

This year’s Summer Fayre promises to be an exciting and enjoyable event for people of all ages. A variety of entertainment options will be available throughout the day, including performances by local groups such as The Secret Shore Singers, Buskerteers Choir, and Thomas A Becket Juniors Choir. Visitors can also look forward to a kung fu display and an exhibition of military vehicles, adding an element of excitement to the proceedings.

In addition to the entertainment, there will be a range of raffle prizes on offer, including tickets to the races at Plumpton. These prizes are sure to attract a wide audience and create a fun-filled atmosphere. Families will also have the opportunity to enjoy traditional games such as hook-a-duck, spin the wheel, tombola, play your cards right, bottle hoopla, and coconut shy. These activities are designed to keep everyone entertained and engaged throughout the day.

Vicky Strange, the Home Manager at Care for Veterans, expressed her enthusiasm for the event. She said: “The Summer Fayre has always been one of the highlights in the Care for Veterans calendar, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming the community to share the fun and entertainment with our residents and staff.” Her words reflect the positive spirit of the event and the importance of bringing the local community together.

Entry to the Summer Fayre is by donation, with all proceeds going directly towards the care and rehabilitation of residents at Care for Veterans. This charitable aspect of the event ensures that every contribution helps to make a difference in the lives of those who rely on the organisation’s services.

For those interested in getting involved, there are opportunities to volunteer or donate prizes for the raffle. Individuals who wish to contribute items such as plants, bottled drinks, or boxes of chocolates can contact Clare Silva, the Events and Corporate Manager, via email at [email protected]. This call for support highlights the collaborative nature of the event and the role that the wider community plays in its success.
