As the nation celebrates women’s month, the South African Police Service (SAPS) highlights the contributions of women who play a vital role in ensuring safety and security across the country. This is the first in a series of profiles showcasing the remarkable women within the police force. Today, we introduce Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, the Chairperson of the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS).
The Role of NATJOINTS
The NATJOINTS is a crucial component of South Africa’s security framework. It coordinates all law enforcement responses throughout the country and is responsible for managing major events such as national and provincial elections, the presidential inauguration, and the opening of parliament. This structure operates from the newly established National Coordination Centre (NCC), where all operational interventions are planned and coordinated.
Lieutenant General Mosikili is also the first female Deputy National Commissioner responsible for policing. She was appointed to this position in July 2022. In addition to her responsibilities, she leads the Protection and Security Service (PSS) Division and the Presidential Protection Service (PPS), which ensures the safety of cabinet members, including the President and Deputy President. The National Operational Coordinating Centre (NOCC) also falls under her command, where multidisciplinary operations are monitored.
