Hoi An in central Vietnam has secured the seventh position in a list of the world’s best-value destinations for British travelers due to price increases.
The average total cost of popular tourist items in Hoi An now stands at £73.23 (US$100.64), marking a 41.3% increase compared to last year, according to the annual Holiday Money Report released by Post Office, the U.K.’s leading currency exchange agency.
The ranking was compiled based on the average local prices of eight popular tourist items at 47 destinations worldwide.
These items include a cup of filter coffee, a 330 ml bottle of local beer, a 330 ml bottle of cola, a 175 ml glass of wine, a 1.5-liter bottle of supermarket mineral water, a 200 ml bottle of sunscreen, a 50 ml tube of insect repellent, and a three-course evening meal for two adults.
The Algarve in Portugal is the cheapest holiday destination this year, thanks to low-cost meals and drinks. A three-course meal for two with wine costs just £40.33.
Cape Town in South Africa retains second place, despite an 11% rise in prices compared to last year.
