2025 All-CIF San Diego Section softball team
Player of the Year: Sophia Burmeister, Poway
A senior catcher who is headed to Clemson, Burmeister is a repeat Player of the Year. The only other repeat winner in the San Diego Section was Lisa Dodd, who was a two-time winner in 2001 and ’02 at Mira Mesa before transferring to University City and winning again in 2003. Dodd went on to play at UCLA. Burmeister hit .470 this season with 18 homers and 40 RBIs. She had two homers in games against Carlsbad, Torrey Pines and Riverside Martin Luther King. In her final two seasons at Poway, Burmeister hit 32 homers and drove in 78 runs.
Pitcher of the Year: Arri Romero, Mater Dei Catholic
Romero finished her sophomore season with a 24-4 record, making 31 appearances. She finished with a 1.62 ERA, throwing 164 innings, allowing 122 hits, walking just 16 with 142 strikeouts. She fanned a season-high 12 against Mission Hills. Romero also hit .414 with 14 doubles and 31 RBIs, leading the Crusaders to a 27-7 finish and the San Diego Section Open Division championship. The Crusaders then went on to win the Southern California Division 1 Regional title.
