$6M Meth Bust: Tomatillos Used to Conceal Drugs at South Texas Port

) — A shipment of tomatillos from Mexico also yielded $6.7 million worth of methamphetamine in a truck, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Thursday.

CBP said the tractor-trailer had been sent for further inspection including non-intrusive inspection equipment and canine screening. That resulted in officers extracting 166 packages of methamphetamine totaling over 750 pounds they said were concealed in the agriculture shipment.

“The cargo environment continues to be a top choice for trafficking organizations but our CBP officers along with our tools and technology are a force to be reckoned with,” Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry Director Carlos Rodriguez said.
