Mikaela Shiffrin Honored: Receives Prestigious Degree at Dartmouth Commencement

HANOVER, N.H (WCAX) – Dartmouth College celebrated its graduating class of 2025 Sunday Morning.

Over twelve hundred students earned bachelors degrees and over 900 students earned professional and graduate degrees. The college says the undergraduate class of 2025 hails from 47 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam.

Actress Sandra Oh gave the commencement speech and received an honorary degree. And Olympic skier Mikaela Shiffrin also received an honorary degree.

“For building a legacy beyond the slopes – teaching us how to go beyond our comfort zone and reminding us that it is not how we fall, but how we get up – Dartmouth is proud to award you the honorary degree of Doctor of humane letters.”

Shiffrin is an American alpine skier and she studied at Burke Mountain Academy. She won her first gold medal at the 2014 winter Olympics, and a gold and silver medal at the 2018 Olympics.

Her dad graduated from Dartmouth in 1976 and also was on the college’s ski team.
