SURPRISE, AZ (AZFamily)
— Surprise police have identified a man who was found dead in the front yard of a Surprise home on Wednesday.
Around 4 a.m., Surprise police responded to an “unknown trouble” call near Dysart and Bell roads after family members found a man in the front yard of the home. Officers arrived and confirmed the man was dead. He was later identified as 53-year-old Sean Hernandez from Phoenix. His cause of death remains under investigation.
Police say Hernandez, who was noted to have “visible injuries,” did not live at the home but is related to family members who do. It is unclear how the man was injured; however, police say it was not from a shooting, as they did not respond to any calls for gunfire in the area.
One person taken into custody was arrested for unrelated charges. Police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Surprise Police Department at 623-222-4000 or 623-222-TIPS if you want to leave an anonymous tip.
