Kenyan Mom Stunned by Teen Daughter’s Shopping List for Visiting Day: “4 Red Bulls, 2 Large Pizzas”

  • TikTok user Martha Waithera ranted online about her daughter’s shopping list for the school visiting day

  • She was stunned by the items her teenage daughter asked for, including four Redbull, two large pizzas, and Monster energy drinks

  • Kenyans flooded her comment section with mixed reactions, trying to understand why Waithera’s daughter had requested such items

A Kenyan mother has shared a list of items her teen daughter requested for the school visiting day.

Martha Waithera posted the long list on her TikTok account, sparking reactions from social media users.

She was shocked by her teenage daughter’s requests and was left wondering why she wanted all the items listed.

“So tomorrow is visiting day, and as you can see, my daughter has sent me this list to go with the items tomorrow. She is a teenager, and I wanted to see how teenagers are,” Waithera said.

What accessories did Waithera want?

She was in a car being driven as she read out the items her daughter had asked for on the special school day.

At the top of the list were accessories—funny enough, perfume was the first item in that category.

Other things included three pens, four pencils, and new sports shoes, with the footwear making Waithera pause.

“Snacks: five caramel popcorns, five bars of chocolate, lollipops, four Tropical Heat tomato crisps, and muffins,” Waithera said as she continued to scan the shopping list.

What drinks did Waithera’s teen daughter request?

Waithera was shocked by the 12th item on the list, which included four Redbull, two cans of Monster energy drink, and blackcurrant soda.

“Apple juice, four yoghurts, two large pizzas, hotdogs, bhajia, fries, pilau, chapati, and sausages. I have only one kid who has written all these things,” Waithera complained.

She continued to read out the list and expressed frustration over the items, noting that some of them were completely unnecessary.

Kenyans react to Waithera’s daughter’s list

Social media users flocked to the comment section to react to the video and Waithera’s rant, sharing their mixed reactions:

Chaves:

“She’s free to ask for what she wants, and that’s perfectly okay. However, this can also be a great opportunity to practice intentional parenting by teaching her financial literacy. For example, giving her a monthly stipend could help her learn to budget, set priorities, and develop a healthy understanding of how money works… valuable skills that will serve her well in the long run.”

Joy:

“My daughter amepata this time… nowadays I give her money to buy things for herself. This time I gave her KSh 5,000, and she bought everything she wanted. Haha… you should have seen her asking, ‘Why is this soap so expensive?’ 🤣🤣 She needs to learn how to budget for herself.”

IHT:

“Wueeh! Mimi I ask for a list and I show up how I want, kulingana na mfuko yangu, na pia results tunaona before tukule.”

Molly Ree

“Maybe she’s a potential business lady. Ana shop at school, ni stock anaitisha.”

Audifacy:

“Kama uko na uwezo, just do it… because most probably atashare na wale hawana. I saw it back in high school where the more privileged would invite the less privileged.”

Caroline Mutoko’s son asks for items hours before school opening

In another story, media personality Caroline Mutoko took to Facebook to rant after her son asked for school items just hours before school opened.

Mutoko said she prided herself on early preparations, so her son’s last-minute request caught her off guard.

Social media users also shared their surprising moments with their kids, asking for unexpected items at the last minute.
