Zahid Medical, a prominent hospital in Hub City, is known as a place of hope for many seeking treatment. Yet, troubling reports of overpricing are casting a dark shadow.
In a recent Facebook video, a poor patient recounted how medicines prescribed by a doctor at Zahid Hospital were quoted at Rs. 12,000 by the Zahid Medical Store. Shockingly, the same medicines were available at another pharmacy for just Rs. 5,000.
A similar incident happened to me. I purchased tablets from Zahid Medical for Rs. 615-only to find the same ones available elsewhere for Rs. 415. This blatant price gouging, especially targeting financially struggling patients, is unethical and unacceptable. Who will hold such profiteering to account? Who will protect the poor from being exploited during vulnerable moments?
I urge the health department and relevant authorities to take urgent, strict action. This injustice must stop now.
