The Earth’s magnetic field is currently interacting with a severe solar storm, triggered by the sun’s most powerful eruption of the year on Saturday.
Experts warn that the G4-class storm — the second-highest level — could disrupt satellite communications, GPS systems, high-frequency radio, and even power grids in some regions, as airlines and navigation services remain on alert for possible signal disturbances.
Both NASA and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) confirmed heightened geomagnetic activity, with peak effects expected Monday.
The event also brought rare and vivid aurora sightings on Sunday, possibly visible at lower latitudes than usual, across several countries.
