Cai Mon, a well-known variety of durian originating from Ben Tre Province in the Mekong Delta, has been listed as one of the top 26 fruits across Southeast Asia according to ratings by subscribers of the international travel magazine TasteAtlas.
It was placed at number 21 on the list.
The Cai Mon durian is prized for its sweet, robust flavor and substantial pulp, with many comparing its taste to that of cow’s milk. Additionally, this fruit has comparatively fewer seeds.

This durian has two primary types: Monthong and Ri6.
As stated by TasteAtlas, the Ri6 type features an ellipse shape along with elongated, scattered spikes; conversely, the Monthong variant has an oval form with a sharp tip at the top.
In Vietnam, Cai Mon durians are generally picked from June to September, and during these months, they can be found abundantly for sale on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City as well as across the Mekong Delta region.
