65 NGOs Set for Training in Edo – International Edition (English)

A child-focused group called Positive Chants for Nigeria has finalized arrangements to conduct a five-month training program for 65 non-governmental organizations in Edo State.

The initiative, working alongside the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations, will take place from May through October 2025 as part of the Active Citizens Programme run by Conscious Soul Record.

The PCN mentioned that they will introduce an innovative program aimed at reinforcing the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) system within NGOs focused on children.

According to the organizers, the purpose of this program is to enhance the capabilities of non-governmental organizations so they can better tackle the significant effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on kids’ growth and overall well-being.

The Country Director of Positive Chants for Nigeria, co-founder of Conscious Soul Records, and leader of the Active Citizens Programme, Precious Obeahon, stated that hardship reshapes a child’s mindset and perception of the world, causing them to feel inadequate, unloved, and incapable.

She stated, “Adverse childhood experiences like trauma, neglect, and dysfunctional families raise the likelihood of future imprisonment by impacting emotional control, conduct, and judgment, thus continuing patterns of hardship and susceptibility.”

Positive Chants for Nigeria will conduct specialized training focused on adverse childhood experiences, providing NGOs with trauma-informed frameworks, systemic approach strategies, and safeguarding measures to bolster child protection initiatives.

A cyber security specialist and major collaborator from Conscious Soul Records, Precious Adedeji, will head workshops focused on protecting children’s information, highlighting how technology can be employed to shield susceptible groups in today’s digital landscape.

The training and development initiatives will be conducted with the participation of Omojo Adaji, an expert in Monitoring Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL), and Mr. Mnenga Shiiwa, who specializes in systems thinking. Together, their knowledge will assist NGOs in refining their internal structures and promoting enduring child protection mechanisms.

President of Congo, Comrade Bartholomew Okoudo, articulated his firm dedication to building alliances that enhance connectivity and encourage cooperation among various civil society groups within Edo State.

We think this collaboration with Positive Chants for Nigeria will equip non-governmental organizations to enhance their methods of measuring impact and safeguarding children, leading to better support strategies for kids within our communities.
