Police have applied for a bench warrant for a man in his 50s who killed his former lover, placed the body in a sack, and disposed of it in a wastewater treatment tank. The Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency announced on the 28th that they applied for a bench warrant for Kim, 54 years old, on charges of murder and abandonment of a corpse.
Kim, upon learning on the 14th of last month that his former lover, Ms. A, was meeting another man in her SUV, became enraged and stabbed her over 10 times with a weapon, killing her. It was investigated that he placed the deceased Ms. A in a sack and disposed of her by submerging her in a wastewater treatment tank at a waste disposal company in Eumseong County, North Chungcheong Province, which he regularly did business with.
Ms. A left her workplace in Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju City, around 6:30 p.m. on the 14th of last month in her SUV and has been unreachable since. Two days later, on the 16th, the police began tracking her whereabouts after receiving a report from her child stating, “She has been unreachable since talking with her mother, who lives alone, in the afternoon of the 14th.”
During this process, the police urgently arrested Kim on the 26th on suspicion of assault resulting in death. After he confessed to all the crimes during the investigation, the police changed the charge from assault resulting in death to murder and applied for a bench warrant.
The pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant substantive review) for Kim is scheduled to take place at the Cheongju District Court at 2 p.m. that day.
