1,550-hp Ram 1500 TRX for Sale

Ram’s Return to V8 Power and the Rise of the RS Edition TRX

Ram has taken a significant step back toward its roots by reinstating former CEO Tim Kuniskis and reintroducing the Hemi V8 engines he championed. This move marks a shift in strategy for the brand, which had previously moved away from traditional V8 powertrains in favor of more efficient inline-six and electrified options. However, these changes came too late to save the Ram 1500 TRX, which featured a powerful 702-horsepower Hellcat engine. While it remains uncertain whether the TRX will make a comeback, Atlanta-based Road Show International has introduced an alternative that could capture the attention of performance enthusiasts.

The RS Edition TRX: A Powerful Alternative

Road Show International, a dealership and tuner, recently listed a modified “RS Edition” TRX for sale. This version comes equipped with what the company calls its RS Performance Package, which boosts the truck’s output to an impressive 1,550 horsepower. The enhancements are achieved through a rebuilt engine from BES/HHP, a new supercharger paired with a dedicated cold-air intake system, and upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pumps to support the increased power demands.

According to Road Show International, the RS Edition TRX can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 145 mph. These figures not only surpass the stock TRX’s 4.5-second 0-60 time and 118 mph top speed but also outperform the Hennessey Mammoth 1000, another tuned TRX model with 1,012 hp that achieves a 3.2-second 0-60 time. What makes this modification particularly appealing is that the RS Edition maintains a largely stock appearance, with only gloss black trim and smoked lighting as visible indicators of its enhanced performance.

The Discontinuation of the TRX and the Rise of the RHO

The TRX, along with other V8 Ram 1500 models, was discontinued as part of Stellantis’ broader strategy to focus on more efficient inline-six and electrified powertrains. This decision led to the introduction of the Ram 1500 RHO, which is powered by a 540-hp high-output version of the Hurricane 3.0-liter turbo-six engine. While this model still offers substantial power for off-roading, it represents a departure from the V8 legacy that many Ram fans have come to appreciate.

Kuniskis’ Return and Future Plans

Tim Kuniskis, who returned to lead Ram earlier this year after a brief retirement, has quickly worked to reverse the brand’s “no-V8” policy. Last month, he announced that the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 would be available in the Ram 1500 for the 2026 model year. This move is part of a broader plan to introduce 25 new announcements over the next year, including initiatives focused on new products such as a passenger van.

These developments have already sparked speculation about a potential TRX revival, reigniting interest in the high-performance truck that once captured the imagination of automotive enthusiasts. With Kuniskis at the helm and the success of modifications like the RS Edition TRX, it seems that Ram is beginning to rekindle its connection with the V8 power that defined its identity for decades.
